A Note about a Fellow Web Artist.

I know I usually stick to posting story and comic updates, but recently, Andy Odendhal, the web comic artist of Too Much Information suffered a stroke. I don’t know if many of you read his comic, but I have always found his work subtly endearing in its approach to human rights and general quirkiness, so much so that I have it on my links page. Though he is convalescing in a hospital at this time, I am told that he is on the mend, and should recover as fully as is possible from this event, and I do hope that he should be back working his art soon enough.

If you haven’t seen his comic, I encourage you to head on over and peruse it. The link on my Links page takes you to the first page of the comic if you want to start from the beginning. You might even want to donate a couple of bucks, ya know, just in case you like his work and want to give him a better chance at doing more ( and also more often . . . )

Museum and Source Notes

The Floral Piece, Bouquet of Flowers in a Vase, featured in A Note about a Fellow Web Artist. is currently at the SMK. The artist is Ambrosius Bosschaert.

A note about Phil

I chose the name Phil because I don’t know anybody named ‘Phil’ really. That and it is short and easy to forget. So now I have to get back to writing the other posts for the week before Cory wakes up and takes me from the insanity that is the bane of all writers and artists, that imaginary space where nothing exists but the click of keys, the press of pen, the word and the line . . .

(I now conclude my moment of Conceit.)

News Flash

Okay, so I could have milked Phil out for weeks. I may still: I could actually have posted each comment on its own, making Phil a regularly appearing guest star. Instead I made Phil larger than life, and put three comments next to him.

Also. Cory doesn’t like Luc’s skirt. It will transition to pants next time he’s in the comic, because my attempt to make a macho Zoot-inspired suit with ankle length skirt just didn’t happen — in the comic world, anyway.

Finally, as an update, I’m getting to the point where I can get a comic out every week or two, as the ideas flow. Cory is primarily an editor, pointing out obvious flaws. Though I think her art is brilliant, she isn’t really focused on drawing a comic right now (she does gallery exhibitions and photo/video work). So any quibbles about the art style should be directed to me. Her ability to point out stupid is what makes Cory important to this project.

That, and she’s pregnant, for those of you who who don’t read the Dark Matters series, and haven’t heard of it there. Things are going to get busier as the baby comes along, but I do intend to adhere to a once a week schedule for all remaining projects.

The Dolphin Crisis

When setting out to do a comic on Angst and his favorite foods, I came across Anti-Dolphin.org, a bit of a diamond in the rough.

Also, I found a startling amount of information on how it might not be good to try to protect dolphins when netting tuna. I might write an article on this out at the Words.

A Sweet Sunday

I have been rather grumpy lately, so I will be taking it easy today. Of course, this doesn’t mean that the comic won’t be up next week or anything. Thus far everything but a few site changes, are online and on time.
